Sandbach Transport Festival is set to be rolling into town and organisers are promising it will be bigger and better than ever.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic event, held to highlight the town's famous transport links with both Fodens and ERF.

The first Sandbach Transport Festival was held in 1990 and this year, like previous years, the two-day event will be held in April.

Sandbach was home to both ERF and Fodens and many people in the town have fond memories of walking past the famous trucks or indeed working in the business.

Last year's event sadly had to be cancelled due to the pandemic but chairman, Albert Ward, says preparations are well advanced and this year's event will go ahead.

And he is appealing for business sponsorship or volunteers to come forward to help put the town on the map with the event.

This year's Transport Festival takes place from April 23rd – 24th and will include the usual array of vehicles on display and other activities.

Albert said: "We've been holding meetings for quite a while and everything is in place for thi year. It will definitely be going ahead.

"We're co-ordinating volunteers to help marshal the event and would appeal for anyone who can volunteer their services to come forward.

"It's a very worthwhile event to get involved in and all the help will be given. Any amount of time volunteers will offer will be gratefully received.

"There's been a two-year gap. It's getting closer and closer so now we're meeting every two weeks.

"It can be quite difficult to get volunteers these days as people lead such busy lives but any bit of time people have will be a bonus."

Mr Ward, who says the popular Spitfire will be at the event again, is also asking for local businesses to come forward with sponsorship and help for the event which attracts hundreds of visitors.
