Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Geraint Price Jones and his quiz team came face-to-face with the king of quizzes, Chris Hughes, from the hit TV show, "Eggheads".

And not only did they take the knowledgeable Crewe resident on, they beat him in a fundraising evening to raise money for Crewe-based Autism Inclusive.

Cllr Price Jones and his team, who included his mum and dad, Tom and Mary Price Jones, went head-to-head against Chris Hughes winning by one point in a tie-breaker.

Cllr Price Jones said: "It was a great evening and we had a lot of fun. Fortunately I had some good brains on my team, including an old school friend, who helped us win."

The event, which took place last night (Sunday) at Coppenhall Working Men's Club was organised by Crewe Mayor, Councillor Tom Dunlop

Cllr Dunlop, who has chosen Autism Inclusive as his chosen charity said: "Chris lives locally and it was great to get him involved. Around six or seven teams turned out for the event.

"I am really grateful for those who did come along because it was such awful weather to travel in and be out.

"Those who did come made it a great evening and I'd like to say a big thank you to them."
