EXCLUSIVE: Woman arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty following incident in Sandbach

A 53-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty as part of an investigation following an incident in Sandbach.

Police said they were called to the address in Platt Avenue in the early hours of Saturday morning after reports a woman had been attacked by a dog inside a house.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 1.20am on Saturday 12 October, police were called to reports that a woman had been attacked by a dog inside and address on Platt Avenue, Sandbach. The caller reported that they had stabbed the dog to prevent further injuries.

"Officers attended the scene and found that the victim had sustained a small injury to their hand. They have since been taken to hospital for treatment. The dog, believed to be a small staffy breed, died at the scene.

"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident are a 53-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty as part of the investigation."

Police vans and a Crime of Scene Van were spotted outside the address in Platt Avenue yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
