Work is continuing on a closed Sandbach town centre pub being revamped but no opening date has been given yet.

Robinsons say work is continuing on the Swan and Chequers in Hightown but no date to re-open has been released.

Scaffolding is still up on the building, name signs are now up and work appears to be taking place in the outside area with Tarmac.

A Robinsons' spokesperson told Nub News today (Wednesday): "We don't have a re-opening date confirmed yet."

Sandbach Nub News revealed last month (May) here how the new look will be influenced by the town and pub's historic links to the Houses of Parliament.

A spokesperson said last month: "A new catering kitchen is being installed and there will be full refurbishment of trading areas.

"Design plans are to create a town centre bar that appeals to all demographics.

"The total venue is going to have a capacity of 180 with areas for live entertainment."

And it's not just the inside which is getting a makeover – the outside is too.

The spokesperson added: "There will be lots of large open space and there are exciting plans for the external courtyard."

Robinsons say the pub will not be offering guest rooms and building work is expected to be completed by the end of June.

"There is no date yet for the re-opening of the pub. This will be dependent on the new licensee," the spokesperson continued.

"The food and drinks offering will also be dependent on the new licensee."
