Sandbach look to push for promotion again

Sandbach United have had a solid pre-season, scoring wins over St Helens, Eastwood Hanley and Wythenshawe Amateurs.

However, seasoned Ramblers fans will know that the NWCFL is a different kettle of fish and there are no easy games. Andy Hockenhull said it best before the Liverpool match, claiming "Bottom can beat top in this division, every game can surprise you".

If Sandbach can reach that promotion that the club feels is within touching distance, focus will need to be at the maximum for every match.

There have been some arrivals and departures in the Sandbach camp ahead of the season, so let's break down who has left.

Adam are the big names that have left the club, with the former two leaving for NWCFL Premier side Whitchurch Alport whilst Knapper has signed for Vauxhall Motors, also in the Premier Division.

However, Hockenhull believes that we have adequately replaced most of the gaps left in the side, although fondly wished Kieran well claiming, "you can't replace Knapper at Sandbach".

Amir Hajri has signed on for the season - an exciting attacker with a keen eye for goal and experience in the Northern Premier League.

Kallam Boyle also joins as a direct replacement for Clayton and brings experience from Nantwich Town to the left-back role and has performed well in pre-season fixtures for the Ramblers.

Other new signings for the season include exciting winger Amadou Doumbouya from Macclesfield, who has playing experience in Spain, and Rory Roberts, an exciting young defender who has slotted seamlessly into the side.

Brocton FC are new to the NWCFL but have previous playing experience at this level – the Stafford side have moved laterally from the Midlands League Division One.

They played in the Midlands Premier Division until the 2016-17 season in which they finished second from bottom and were subsequently relegated.

The club were known in their previous league for their attacking-first football and have a relatively young squad for the campaign.

Hind Heath Road is sure to be packed with the town of Sandbach excited for what the club can achieve this season, so make sure you come down to watch the Ramblers in action!
