SHOPPERS at Sandbach's Co-ops have raised nearly £9,500 for local causes supported by the stores.
Every year Co-op stores select three charities that customers can choose to help through the Co-op Local Community Fund.
When Co-op members buy selected Co-op products and services, 2p for every £1 spent goes into their Co-op Membership account from which they nominate one of the chosen charities. The Co-op will also give the same amount to support community organisations and local causes.
Since 2016 Co-op members have helped raise more than £117 million which has been used to directly support around seven million people across the UK.
Arnie Laing, the Sandbach Co-op Member Pioneer, has announced Elworth Cricket Cub will receive £3,244.20, Sandbach United Football Club £3,169.57 and Sandbach Lions Youth Brass Band £2,932.21.
The organisations will collect their cheques at a special celebration of the Local Community Fund on Saturday, 18th November at Co-op Lawton Way in Elworth, Sandbach.
And this year the event will also celebrate the wider community with a star-studded car boot sale held in the car park at Lawton Way.
It will also be highlighting the Friendship Bench unveiled earlier this year here as revealed here as well as three new bike racks at the Lawton Way Co-op.
Arnie said: "The Celebration Day this year will be more orientated around the wider community support delivery in the last 12 months, not just about the Local Co-op Fund causes
"The Car Boot sale is a community event whilst also fundraising as well for Barnardo's, the Co-op present nationally supported charity."
Co-op Membership helps support Co-op's national charity partners and Local Community Fund causes. See the link here
