A major renovation project is about to begin at Elworth Cricket Club in Sandbach.

A Sandbach cricket club is getting a major makeover – complete with a new kitchen and redecoration of the clubhouse.

Work is poised to start next week on a re-development project at Elworth Cricket Club in London Road.

Elworth Cricket Club chair, Mike Price said: "It will provide members and the local community with an amazing new facility to enjoy for the 2023 Season and for years to come," said Mike.

"This has been a particularly challenging matter, which was first discussed in 2018. COVID significantly delayed matters and the cost-of-living crisis could not have come at a worse time.

"Even in November, it was looking like the project would not be going ahead.

"The project has only been possible because of exceptionally generous donations from two members, significant donations from a small number of other members, successful grant-funding applications to a number of bodies and the support of the club membership.

"It has been challenging, but we have exciting times to look forward to at the club in 2023."

The project will see a complete re-fit of the club interior, new toilets, a new kitchen, new flooring, new tables and chairs on the lounge, new lounge decoration, a new boiler and new electrics.

The clubhouse is getting a major makeover.

In addition, the clubhouse is being painted throughout.

Mike added: "I would like to thank Dave Buckley, in particular, for all the work he has undertaken during his period as Chairman of the Club and this year."

Work is due to start on the project next Monday - January 9th.
