A Sandbach artist specialising in using recycled items was on the right track when she helped with a community project in Crewe.

Sue Guildford-Potts of Junk Art Creations in Wheelock was asked to take part in a project involving Cheshire Buddies at Crewe station.

The talented artist helped put together designs for a giant mural, a mosiac and other artwork working with Cheshire Buddies – celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Now the masterpieces, on Platform 12 at the station, designed to give children a place to relax, have been unveiled and it's hoped they could now form an art trail in Crewe.

An unveiling ceremony attended by the Mayor of Crewe Cllr Dawn Clark and other dignitaries, which included a performance by Sandbach Rock Choir, was held at the station.

"It was an exciting project and I'm thrilled with the results," said Sue, whose Facebook page is here

"Cheshire Buddies worked so hard on the project. The results are amazing."

Cheshire Buddies is a charity set up in 2004 to give children and young people with disabilities new experiences to enhance their lives, develop skills and make friends. More details on their work can be found here

Buddies spent around four months working on various pieces of art using a variety of media from bottle tops to beer tops and paint to make the works of art.

And the project also includes a garden area designed with the help of Haslington gardener,Claire Butler, who is studying social and therapeutic horticulture.
