Campaigners are taking to the streets next weekend to show their anger at planned car parking charges in the town.

Cheshire East Council is currently consulting with people as revealed here about plans to start charging in council car parks.

The consultation period finishes on November 1st and residents in Sandbach have formed a campaign group, Action Against Cheshire East Parking Charges - Sandbach, to fight the plans.

The group has organised a march from The Cobbles in Sandbach to the Sandbach headquarters of Cheshire East Council, Westfields, next Saturday (October 14th) at 3 pm.

And they are calling on as many people as possible to join them in their protest.

Lead organiser, Laura Dytham said: "We are protesting about the possible introduction of parking charges.

"I am so frustrated at the council for wanting to put parking charges in Sandbach in a cost of living crisis.

"People on minimum wage are going to have additional costs just to go to work.

Campaigners are marching to Westfields in Middlewich Road, Sandbach.

"It will affect local businesses as most people will go to out of town retail parks.

"From a safety point of view people collecting kids from the high school will end up creating traffic and possible accidents."
