A Sandbach running club has stepped in to help a charity which helps families in Kenya.

Sandbach Striders has handed over running shirts from various events to be taken out to a project in Kenya.

Colin Walton from Wheelock is the lead fundraiser of the North West based New Hope Support Group which helps families in Upland, Kenya.

Sandbach Nub News told here  how Colin organises an annual charity disco event to raise money for the project.

He is heading out to Kenya with his family shortly and will be taking the shirts with him to give to people in Kenya.

Colin said: "The club responded brilliantly to our request to donate running tops they don't wear.

"Many races give you a t-shirt after an event, so we all have lots of t-shirts that we don't wear but can't possibly part with.

"Not only will these shirts help out in Kenya but hopefully lots of houses around Sandbach are a little tidier."

Steve Treweeks, who has been a member of the Striders for many years, handed over the shirts to Colin.

"When Steve saw our request, he arranged a collection at his work. John Pass Jewellers in Crewe who are celebrating 75 years through an initiative called 75 moments of kindness.

"We're so grateful for these donations," said Colin.

Colin and others also recently completed a fundraising coast-to-coast walk for New Hope.
