A grandparent and avid supporter of a Sandbach primary school is pulling on her running shoes to raise money for pancreatic cancer.

Karen Dennis, whose two grandchildren aged nine and seven are pupils at Elworth Hall Primary School, is taking part in the Cheshire half marathon at Capesthorne Hall.

The keen runner sadly lost her sister, Lynne, two years ago to pancreatic cancer and has now pledged to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

Karen, who lives in Nantwich, has set up a JustGiving page for the event and is busy training for the event which takes place on September 10th.

"With my running buddy, Clare Holland, I'll be tackling my second half marathon on 10 September 2023 at Capesthorne," she said.

"Lynne thought it was madness when I took up running and I know she will be laughing at how much I am dreading it already.

"Any donation would be very much appreciated to fund research into this vile disease."

Karen is an avid supporter of Elworth Hall School Association (EHSA)and the association has shared her JustGiving page and wished her luck.

"One of EHSA's most loyal supporters will be running a half marathon to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK," EHSA said on Facebook.

"Karen can usually be found volunteering at EHSA events, donating raffle prizes, as well as purchasing copious amounts of tickets.

"We wish you lots of luck with the run, we know you've been training so hard and will smash it!"
