Every year, Caroline Baguley and husband Steve put on a winter wonderland show of lights and Christmas decorations in their Sandbach front garden for charity.

The couple have been doing it since 2020, each year raising money for the mental health charity, Mind, raising in excess of £5,000 already.

And this year's light show, starting on Sunday (30 November) will be no different except this year it's beginning with a cake sale at Caroline's gym.

"We thought we'd do something a bit different this year so we're having a colourburst cake sale at Train gym in Elworth. It's my gym and I go there whenever I can.

"I'm making lots of things and so are members of the gym which we're very grateful for. We're just hoping we can raise as much money as we can on that day," said the grandmother of four.

But the Baguley's fundraising efforts this year don't stop there for on Sunday (30 November), the lights on their front garden in Elworth Road will go on from 5 pm until 9 pm each night.

The couple just ask for donations from people who come to see the wonderful display which gets bigger and better each year.

Caroline said: "We get people coming from all over. We had one little girl who wrote us a letter saying she was from Scotland and visiting family in Sandbach and how wonderful the lights are. She said she couldn't wait to come back.

"Mind is such an important charity. Mental health affects so many people of any age or background. No one knows when it's going to hit them.

"We've had all sorts of things to raise money for Mind including an afternoon tea at St Peter's Church hall in Elworth. We'll keep doing this.

"As soon as Christmas is over, the decorations go back into the loft. We've got so many now we have to store some at our daughter's house."

Visitors going to see the decorations are encouraged to put donations into a letter box at the front of the couple's house which has real meaning to their lives. Steve is a former HGV driver for Royal Mail at Warrington.

"We found it in an antique shop in Yorkshire," said Steve. "When I retired, I wanted a post box outside so we bought this one. It's from a rural village in Yorkshire."
