Train staff working at rail operator CrossCountry will be taking strike action on Saturday (6 December).
It means that there will be 'very limited' CrossCountry services on this day, with 'significant disruption' expected.
There is also action planned on 13 and 20 December, with CrossCountry saying there will be more details to follow.
Those services that do run will be 'significantly busier than usual', and they will also be finishing much earlier in the day.
Passengers are therefore advised to plan return journeys carefully.
CrossCountry runs trains on the busy Birmingham to Manchester route..
The strikes are being organised by the RMT union (the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers).
Shiona Rolfe, managing director at CrossCountry, said: “We are disappointed that the RMT has announced more industrial action that will disrupt customers over the busy Christmas period.
"We’ve worked hard to make a fair and reasonable offer that addresses the key points raised in this dispute, and we believe we’ve made meaningful progress in negotiations.
“Our priority is now minimising disruption for those travelling on Saturdays in December – but while we will try to run as many services as possible, there will inevitably be significant disruption.”
