The Cheshire branch of a football team set up especially for children with Cerebral Palsy or a brain injury has kicked off the festive season in style.

Sandbach United Football Club in Hind Heath Road is the Cheshire branch of CP United FC - which is a club specifically for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy or a brain injury.

These sessions have been setup to give people locally an opportunity to play in an inclusive environment.

The club held a Christmas party for the members and now they are urging more players to come forward for 2022 and join the growing team which has training sessions at the Hind Heath Road facilities on Wednesday nights from 4.45pm – 5.45 pm.

Liz Clark, Sandbach United Football Club's Diversity and Inclusion Officer said: "Great fun was had at this year's Christmas party for CPUFC with players, families and coaches.

Unfortunately the weather was against us, it was raining and very cold, so we took to the Bingo Hall!

"Who knew people could get so competitive at bingo, particularly the dads," joked Liz.

"All enjoyed a party tea which was provided by Sandbach United FC. Then Santa gave us an early visit which the children loved!

"Our long term aim is to support players and help them to become the best they can be both on and off the pitch."
