Friefighters were called to Byley Lane in Cranage in the midst of Storm Éowyn after a tree had struck a power cable and started smouldering.

One fire engine from Holmes Chapel went to the incident in Cranage on Friday (January 24th) at 5.16 pm.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used a hose reel to douse a smouldering tree which had fallen and struck a power cable.

"Utilities providers were also on scene to isolate power supplies before firefighters took action."
