Golf club's stylish new-look clubhouse is given the big thumbs up by golfers
Golfers have given the big thumbs up to a new-look club house at a Sandbach golf club.
Malkin's Bank Golf Club's clubhouse has had a massive makeover and is now back open after its transformation.
Sandbach Nub News revealed last year here how the club house was being transformed.
The club opened in 1976 and was designed by world-famous Hawtree Golf Course Architects and Construction.
The golf course has undulating features bordering on to the Trent & Mersey Canal with a small river flowing through the golf course
The Betchton Road club house reopened its doors as 'Bar 918', named after the holes it overlooks over Easter and golfers have already started planning events at the club house.
Leo North, one of the organisers of the senior section at the club, said he was delighted with the makeover.
"We're having an event here next week and we can't wait. It's been closed for a while and what has been done is incredible," he said.
"The course is amazing and now we have a club house to match. It will give a boost to everyone.
"We can't wait for the kitchen to open and for food to be available."
Fellow golfer, Bob Gore, who was the club's captain in 2002, was also delighted with the new club house.
"It's a brilliant addition and is a great place to sit and relax before or after a game."
Bar 918 is the brainchild of Francesca Bell who is also runs The Lower Chequer pub in Sandbach and has a wealth of experience in the licensing trade.
A golfer herself, she said the food offering at Bar 918 will include breakfasts, steaks and burgers as well as stylish salads.
"We'll be having themed nights and other occasions as well as offering a wedding venue," said Francesca.
"We're working out the menus at the moment and we're delighted with how the project has gone so far."
