Anyone noticed the clock on the Zan industrial park in Crewe Road, Wheelock?

The historic clock on the Zan Mill in Wheelock has been turned red in support of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, following the example of St Mary's church clock in Sandbach.

The founder of Zan Limited, Mr R.B.Hovey, started the company in 1919, when he returned from serving during WWI.

The clock was rescued from the demolition of the Brunner Mond chemical works at Malkins Bank.

Mr R.B.Hovey helped start the Wheelock branch of the British Legion, and the Hovey family has continued to support the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal over many years since.
