Wildlife lovers have a chance to see four parrots plus a host of other animals when a zoo throws its doors open this weekend.

Holmes Chapel-based Zoo2U is open on Saturday and Sunday (December 21st and 22nd) after finally getting the green light from planners to open.

The zoo based on land at Bidlea Dairy in Twemlow Lane is opening this weekend raising money to create an outdoor habitat for meerkats and giant tortoises.

And on show will be Milo, an Eclectus parrot whose girlfriend Kirra sadly passed away but has now found companionship with three other parrots.

Melissa Mews who runs the zoo with husband Ben, opened the zoo last Sunday (December 15th) for the first time and is excited about reopening this weekend.

"It's a chance to see what we have as well as raising money for our projects. We want to build a skunk enclosure plus creating a habitat for meerkats and giant tortoises."

The zoo will also feature a host of other animals animals including a guinea pig paddock, koobabura, owls as well as the three new parrots.

Melissa said previously: "Our Christmas openings are based on "affordable" prices and all the money we raise from will go back into building projects.
