Job of the Week: Supply Chain Lead

"A multi-sector speciality distributor of raw materials and chemicals to the UK Manufacturing Industry are now seeking a Supply Chain Lead.

"This position will be office based in Sandbach, Cheshire and is a full-time permanent role.

"Following a recent acquisition; a new position within the Supply Chain team is required to manage the continued successful integration of Inorganics customers.

"The focus of the role is to preserve the existing customer portfolio and seek to grow margins in line with market conditions.

"Product supply optimisation is seen as a key activity to maximise margins within the boundaries of the agreed product supply contract.

"To meet the budgeted volume and margin plans for the Inorganic products.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as Inorganics' key point of contact for the implementation

• Work to ensure continuity of supply for all customers (internal and external)

• Work with the site sales team to put in place a sales strategy to preserve these new customers and with time grow margins

• Review product supply routes to minimize haulage costs and maximize margins.

• Build a customer profitability matrix for all legacy customers

• On a monthly basis, monitor product supply volumes in line with contracts

• Continuously seek to broaden the opportunity to maximize margins by increasing or decreasing volume obligations

• Understand processes enough to provide support and cover, within the supply chain functions, including vessel movements, internal processes for ordering product from suppliers, warehouse creation and PO creation

• Coordinate and work effectively as part of the Inorganics Supply Chain

Qualifications and Experience

• Educated to "A" level, HNC, HND or equivalent

• Supply chain knowledge of commodity chemicals markets including distribution is desirable

• Sales and account manager experience is desirable

• Technical background is desirable

• Experience of working within a large organisation

• Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers though effective communication

• Effective team management skills

• Confident with excellent communication skills

• Strong motivation to work as part of a team and understand internal objectives

• Ability to think and plan strategically as well as tactically

• Have the drive and presence to motivate within a matrix structure

• Very organised with a structured approach to problem solving

• Able to effectively use systems and understand process requirements and implications
