Meet the cat reunited with his owner 11 years after going missing

A Sandbach woman has been reunited with the cat that she never thought she'd see again - after it went missing in 2012.

Janet Dunbar was living on The Wirral with two cats when one of them, Clarke, named after the actor Clarke Gable, disappeared.

Ms Dunbar tried to find Clarke, but just like his actor namesake Clarke 'had gone with the wind' and was nowhere to be seen.

In 2016, Ms Dunbar moved to Sandbach and reregistered the microchip to her new address in Elworth.

One day, she got a message on her phone to he was at a vets on The Wirral and his address had been traced thanks to the microchip.

"I got a phone call from the vets in The Wirral to say they thought they had Clarke," said Ms Dunbar.

"I couldn't believe it as I thought I'd never see him again. He was a bit thin but I knew it was Clarke from his markings."

Ms Dunbar, a retired civil servant, collected Clarke and brought him to her new home in Acacia Drive.

"He has got a few health issues and I'm not letting him at the moment," she said.

"I'm just pleased to have him back. I'm thinking of getting a harness so I can take him outside on a lead.

"I think he had been living rough but was being fed. He's such a lovely boy and I'm just pleased to have him back."

Ms Dunbar says it's thanks to her changing the details on the microchip and keeping the information up-to-date that she has Clarke back.

"It just shows you how important up-to-date information is," she said.
