An avid yoga teacher is hoping to bring a real sense of calm into people's lives - not only in Sandbach but much further afield - after opening a new studio in the town.

The teacher has launched Ashtanga Cheshire Studios in Welles Street, the former home of the Debra shop, putting yoga firmly on the map in the area.

Ashtanga Cheshire Studios, whose website is here and Facebook page here is open seven days a week with over 23 classes of various styles catering to every level of student.

The founder, who has been practising and teaching yoga for more than he can remember, couldn't be happier.

"When I started doing yoga years ago, I suddenly felt different," he said. "It completely changed me for the better.

"It makes you 'walk taller' and changes your mental view. It also helped me physically at the time.

"It helps you deal with life meaning the outside world doesn't faze you. It gives you an inner strength."

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India which combines physical, mental, and spiritual practices to improve overall health.

It involves physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) to connect the body, breath, and mind.

The teacher spent time in India where he learnt the art of the ancient practice. The business is named 'Ashtanga', a name linked to yoga.

Ashtanga means "having eight limbs or components", coming from the words "Ashta", which means "eight", and "Anga", which means "limb" or "body part".

The business already has an avid following for the array of classes he runs but he says there's plenty of spaces available for anyone wanting to try it out.

"It can help you in so many ways. We have classes for beginners and are open seven days a week to accommodate everyone.

"We've got new client introductory offers and we'd love to see as many people as possible joining us."
