Women in Sandbach are being urged to take part in a quick survey to look at ways of making the county an even safer for them.

And men are also being urged to come forward and play their part in supporting women to feel safe and support the campaign.

Cheshire East Council has launched a survey to find out the views of women and identify safety blackspots and how improvements can be made.

The closing date for the survey is this Sunday and as many people as possible are being urged to take part.

A spokesman said: "We believe that each of us has the right to expect to be able to go about our daily lives without fear of intimidation, harassment and violence. Walking alone in public places shouldn't be a danger to anyone.

"This council further notes, in particular, the lived experiences of many women in our communities ranging from verbal abuse, harassment and intimidation, in most instances, caused by men.

"This council recognises that many men in our town want to do the right thing to make sure women feel safe and secure, but sadly there are some who encourage and engage in abusive behaviour - or simply fail to challenge it.

A commission has been established to improve safety for women across the county. The survey aims to understand if and why women don't feel safe, and whether that is specific to particular areas of the county or more widespread.
