A new logistics depot looks set to be built on land at Middlewich after councillors delegated the application to be approved once contributions for the bypass had been sorted.

Tilstone Industrial Ltd applied to Cheshire East Council for permission to build the 612 square metre depot and office, together with service yard, car parking and HGV parking at plot 51, Pochin Way.

The council's planning officers had recommended councillors approve the scheme.

At Wednesday's meeting of the southern planning committee, principal planning officer Dan Evans said: "The highways officers haven't resolved the amount of money they will require for the Middlewich Eastern bypass and we still haven't resolved the issue of the biodiversity offsetting contribution… so it's an application which is recommended to be delegated to the head of planning [in consultation with the chairman] to resolve those two contributions."

The application is for a 2.9 hectare site on the Midpoint 18 employment site.

Mr Evans said: "It's an application for a haulage HGV park. It's going to be operated by an unnamed logistics company."

Congleton councillor Suzie Akers Smith (Ind) asked if it could be conditioned that shower and changing facilities be provided and this was added.
