A major road in Sandbach is closed in Wheelock for part of the day this week until Friday (17 October) to investigate and repair drainage issues.
Hind Heath Road is closed while workmen investigate and repair drainage close to the junction with Jeremiah Wilkinson way off Senderfield Lane.
Cheshire East councillor, Laura Crane, who covers this area said: "Drainage works unfortunately need investigation before the extent of the issues become clear so they have applied for the road closure to cover the worst possible outcome.
"The team hope that the works can be completed between the hours of 9.30 am and 3.30 am to reduce the impact on rush hour traffic but cannot be certain of this until they start the dig.
"The intention is to keep the road open for residents to access their homes and of course emergency vehicles will have access at all times.
"Once they are on site I am expecting to receive further information as it comes to light and will share as appropriate.
"Of course, we would all prefer these to take place during school holidays but the team can't attend everywhere during those limited weeks and this piece of work unfortunately has to be completed sooner rather than later.
"Delay to drainage works could further undermine the state of the road which we all know is in need of attention."
