Motorists travelling north on the M6 faced delays yesterday after police closed the road between junctions 16 and 17 following a crash.

Two fire engines from Crewe went to the scene at 10.50 am yesterday (Sunday).

"A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "The road was fully closed by police while emergency services dealt with the incident. Firefighters provided initial casualty care while paramedics made their way to the scene.

"Two lanes were later reopened and the incident was been handed over to National Highways."
