Visitors are being invited to take a tour through the ages as The Museum of Policing hosts its annual open day.

The Museum is home to a huge collection of historical police artefacts, including handcuffs and shackles, murder weapons and police equipment that have been preserved from local police stations throughout Cheshire.

The famed Victorian cell within the museum also gives visitors the chance to experience life behind bars and is always a talking point throughout the day.

From 10am to 4pm on next Saturday (September 17th) the free open day will give visitors the opportunity to meet local officers and find out more about policing in the Cheshire area.

It will feature a meet and greet with the dogs from Cheshire Police's Dog Unit, along with entertainment provided by the Cheshire Constabulary band.

The public will also have the opportunity to take a look at the force's Drone Unit, an armed response vehicle from Alliance and other police vehicles.

The museum, in Warrington, is an independent charity run by volunteers in co-operation with Cheshire Constabulary to allow members of the public the chance to explore the history of policing within the region.
