Stoke-on-Trent has been named as one of the best places in England for Irish pubs and cheap pints of Guinness, perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

Research carried out by The Winners Enclosure calculated the percentage of bars in each city centre which fell into the 'Irish pub' category and compared the cost of a Guinness pint at Weatherspoon and Greene King pubs in each location.

Stoke placed fourth in the findings, with the average pint of Guinness coming in at only £4.02.

The findings also revealed that 2.4% of venues in Stoke-on-Trent fall into the 'Irish pub' category.

Sunderland placed top in the findings, with a Guinness costing £3.62 on average.
