Pupils, parents and the team from Cheshire Hall School were delighted to welcome Sarah Russell, MP for Congleton for the opening.

Based in Sandbach, Cheshire Hall School meets the needs of pupils with SEN including ADHD, autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and social and emotional difficulties for pupils aged between eight - 16.

Headteacher Paul Lyons said: "We were delighted to welcome Sarah Russell to Cheshire Hall School and share the efforts of our incredible school community.

"Her genuine enthusiasm for our approach and her support for the work we do with children and families mean so much to everyone in our community.

"As a new school, we have opened with a clear and ambitious aim: to create a space where pupils feel safe, supported, and inspired.

"Since opening, we've focused on building connections, and already, the team has witnessed strong and positive relationships beginning to flourish among the school community."

Sarah Russell MP also took part in an engaging question-and-answer session where children and young people prepared a wide range of thoughtful and entertaining questions, from "why is it important for people to vote?" to light-hearted questions about pets.

Cheshire Hall School, run by the Witherslackgroup, is housed in Brookside Hall, Arclid, formerly the regional head office for Sibelco UK as we revealed in our story here

When a Year 7 pupil, asked Sarah, what the best part of her job was. Sarah replied that it was "helping people within the constituency who are really in need of help and support."

Following the Q&A, Sarah toured the school, meeting pupils, parents, teaching and support staff, and the in-house therapy team.

As part of her visit, Sarah offered to help connect the school with local employers, which supports the school's Futures programme, where the team delivered unlimited aspiration and endless employment opportunities for every child.

She also expressed an interest in sharing details of Cheshire Hall's professional development work with other schools in the area.

Sarah commented: ""I was delighted to have been invited to attend the opening of Cheshire Hall School in my constituency.

"Proper SEND care and provision is vital to ensure we are supporting all children, parents, and carers across the community.

"I will continue to work hard in Parliament to ensure we have adequate SEND support in place in our local area to allow all of our young people to flourish."

Angie, mum of pupil Benjamin commented: "Attending the opening was emotional and inspiring. The school truly understands Benjamin and can give him the support he needs to reach his full potential. The transformation in him has been amazing. He loves it."

Cheshire Hall School is part of Witherslack Group, a leading education provider for children and young people with special educational needs, evidenced by sector-leading Ofsted judgements and unmatched placement stability, school attendance, and outcomes for young people.
