Changes at a popular historic inn on the outskirts of Sandbach could be made if Cheshire East gives approval.

Pear Hospitality, who bought the Blue Bell Inn in Smallwood earlier this year, has applied to make changes to the layout of the building in Spen Green to increase the number of diners by 20 per cent.

It has applied to remove internal walls, move the kitchen to the barn outside and incorporate the old kitchen into the restaurant space and provide a new covered entrance.

Pear Hospitality said when they bought the Spen Green pub in here that it would continue to be "the same charismatic, familiar country pub everyone knows".

Pear Hospitality also own The Wheatsheaf in Sandbach, The Lion and Swan in Congleton and Pecks Restaurant in Brownlow Heath.

Residents have until January 5th to make representations about the application whose link is here
