Plans for up to 100 homes in Middlewich
Plans have been submitted for up to 100 residential homes in Middlewich on land off Centurion Way.
The proposal is for a site which straddles the Cheshire East /Cheshire West & Chester border and is located at the north eastern corner of Middlewich between the A54 Holmes Chapel Road, the B5309 Centurion Way, and Byley Lane.
If the scheme gets the go-ahead, 75 new homes will be built in the Cheshire East section and the remaining 25 on land in Cheshire West & Chester.
A design and access statement submitted by C4 Projects on behalf of applicant Blok (UK) Ltd, states: "The development includes a range of housing types of between one to four bedrooms that cater to the local demand.
"Affordable housing is a key design principle within the scheme, and the development can achieve 30 per cent affordable housing in both the Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester portions of the site."
The application site area is a 3.8ha single parcel of agricultural land close to the Holmes Chapel Road roundabout.
The Cheshire East portion is allocated for residential use in the council's site allocations and development policies document. The Cheshire West portion is not allocated for a specific land use and comprises open countryside.

The applicant says: "Creating a positive and collaborative rapport between the two planning authorities is crucial for the success of the overall development of the land parcel."
The main site access is proposed along the western boundary that fronts Centurion Way. A dedicated filter lane will be provided, as well as a ghost island for the safe crossing of pedestrians.
Because the application is in outline at this stage, the design, layout and appearance of the homes will be dealt with separately at a later date as part of the reserved matters application, if this outline application is approved.
The planning document from the applicant states: "In order to respond to local demand, policy requirements from both councils and to create a varied streetscape, the proposal incorporates a mixture housing typologies which include one and two-bedroom flats as well as two, three and four-bedroom dwelling houses."
It continues: "Housing typologies include flats, terraced, semi-detached and detached units all with associated car-parking and secure gardens with area for bin storage."
According to Cheshire East Council's website, the application for the portion of land within its jurisdiction is due to be considered by the southern planning committee on August 30.
The application, number 23/2353M, can be viewed on the planning portal of the council's website and the last date for members of the public to submit comments is July 27.
