Plans have been submitted for four luxury glamping pods near Sandbach to provide a 'peaceful and relaxing retreat for nature lovers' – with no party groups allowed.

Glampitect has submitted an application to site the timber-clad pods on farmland off Tall Chimneys near Vicarage Lane at Betchton.

A design and access statement submitted with the planning application says: "Patrons would likely be couples, friends or families. Party groups will not be permitted by the operator.

"The site would be operated 12 months of the year as a holiday let, much like a caravan site but with much fewer guests, meaning less noise and disruption to neighbouring properties and road users.

"The site will also be marketed as a peaceful and relaxing retreat for nature lovers, which again should mean noise from guests is not a consideration. The site will operate with strict rules of conduct, which will include an exclusion of any forms of unacceptable or anti-social behaviour."

The proposal also includes a storage hut, bike storage and recycling/waste facilities.

One parking bay per pod is proposed. Also intended are associated footpaths and minor landscaping.

Access to the site will be via the existing access point off Vicarage Lane.

The applicant says the scheme represents effective and efficient use of the land as part of the diversification of the farm enterprise. The site, which is surrounded by green fields and is 1.7 miles from Sandbach, is well located to allow guests to enjoy the surrounding tourism assets.

The application, number 23/1882C, can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.

The last date for submitting comments is June 21 and the application is to be determined by a planning officer under delegated powers.
