Public bin in town centre street is believed to have been set alight deliberately

A fire in a public bin in Sandbach town centre in the middle of the night is believed to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Sandbach fire station were called to the bin in Welles Street at 2.20 am today (Monday).

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A public bin was on fire in Sandbach.

"Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately so police were also informed."
