Residents fighting plans to build up to 325 homes in Sandbach Heath have launched a 'Go Fund Me' page to raise funds to fight the appeal.
Cheshire East councillors voted to refuse the controversial proposal on the grounds in November on the grounds it would result in harm to the setting of the Leonard Cheshire Home (The Hill), Oakley House and Oakley Coach House which are designated heritage assets.
But Bloor Homes has since lodged an appeal against the refusal to grant permission for the dwellings, which include 30 per cent affordable homes together with a community park, on 19.28 hectares of open countryside and agricultural land between Manor Road and the A533, The Hill.
Now members of the Sandbach VS Overdevelopment without Proper Infrastructure are fundraising to fight the appeal which could cost the group between £10,000 and £30,000.
A spokesperson said on Social Media: "We are actively progressing the appeal and are currently undertaking a structured fact-finding and preparation phase to ensure the process is handled correctly from the outset.

"This includes fully mapping the appeal process, key stages, timelines, documentation requirements, and the format of a formal inquiry, before any submissions become live on the portal.
"This approach is deliberate and necessary to ensure we submit a strong, procedurally sound case. Planning appeals of this nature require highly specialised legal input, involving detailed review of planning policy, appeal documentation, and the preparation of robust written submissions. This work is time-intensive and carries significant cost, particularly for a formal inquiry.
"To continue this work and secure the legal support required, we now need to try and raise significant funds. Even at an early stage, legal advice and preparation can run into several thousands of pounds, with costs increasing as the process advances.
"In practical terms, even a carefully managed appeal can cost £10,000 to £30,000, and complex cases can exceed this. These costs are unavoidable if the community wants professional representation that is taken seriously within the planning system.
"We are therefore asking residents to please contribute what you are able to now, so we can act professionally and effectively on behalf of the community.
"We will provide further updates as key milestones are reached and will share clear information on how residents can assist beyond financial contributions as the process develops. Thank you very much for your continued support and trust."
