Robinson's pubs across Cheshire will celebrate the 124-year anniversary of Old Tom beer, one of the brewery's most iconic drinks.

As part of 'Old Tom day' on November 4, selected pubs across the borough will be offering the beer on cask, for a rich taste of history. As Robinson's says: "If you've never tried Old Tom on cask, you're in for a treat."

The following selected pubs near Sandbach will offer the beer on cask:

  • George and Dragon, Holmes Chapel
  • Hawk, Haslington

The Sweettenham Arms a little further afield but popular with Sandbach folk also has 'Old Tom'.

It comes not long after the beer won a national award in the Campaign for Real Ale's 'Champion winter beer' category.

This legendary strong ale with its warm, peppery, rich taste, was first brewed in 1899, making it almost as old as Robinsons itself.

As the brewery describes: "Dubbed 'The original craft beer' this dangerously drinkable legend was born in 1899, when Tom, the old brewery cat, was sketched into immortality by the head brewer.

"This superior dark ale is recognised, nationally and internationally, as one of the premier strong ales. It has won some of the industry's most prestigious awards, including World's Best Ale and Champion Beer of Britain."
