A Sandbach artist who has beaten breast cancer four times hopes to have raised around £1,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support from a fundraising event today (Friday).

Judith Colclough, wife of Sandbach United chairman, Peter Colclough, donated two of her works of art to her World's biggest coffee morning.

And it's thanks to an art class Judith attended at St Luke's Hospice day care centre in Winsford that she went back to painting.

The talented artist had always loved art at school but had not pursued it until she took part in an art therapy class.

"I find painting so therapeutic. I went on to do an art foundation degree but it's thanks to St Luke's that I'm painting again," said Judith.

"I've got a studio at the bottom of the garden where I paint. I just find it so relaxing."

Two of her works-of-art, one a beach scene entitled 'Mountain Waves' and the other a felt bid, are part of the raffle for Judith's fundraising mission.

Judith gathered together her band of helpers for the event at Sandbach United's The Cross Bar in Hind Heath Road.

She said: "I couldn't do it without them. They are amazing and so many people have come out today to support the event and I thank them for their support."
