The countdown is on for a charity event in Sandbach tomorrow (Saturday) to raise much-needed funds for families in Kenya.
Dad-of-two Colin Dalton from Wheelock is the lead fundraiser of the North West based New Hope Support Group, a group of like-minded individuals who have dedicated time and effort to supporting a community based in Upland, Kenya.
The group holds a series of fundraising events, including an 80s live music and disco at Sandbach School, which takes place next weekend.
Colin has been to help out at the project in Kenya with his family, each time funding their own expenses and providing their help free of charge.
And next Saturday (October 8th) one of the group's biggest fundraising events is held in a bid to boost funds for the families in Kenya.
Sandbach Nub News covered the popular event last year and you can read the story here https://sandbach.nub.news/news/local-news/wheelock-resident-colin-is-banking-on-success-with-his-latest-project-to-provide-new-hope-for-kenyan-children
Colin Dalton gets ready for next weekend's big event
As before, the band Constance will entertain the audience and new this year is Street Dance Academy – currently ranked 14th in the world – are performing an 80's themed dance.
Colin said: "This year, we have managed to provide additional basic foodstuffs as well as paying to keep the water connected to two villages.
"All this has been done so we can ensure children stay in education and have the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.
"With the recent crash of sterling this has become even more challenging so every penny raised will make a huge difference."
The group has set up a Justgiving page to buy tickets, priced at £12.50, for next week's event https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/newhope80
Colin said: "Email your confirmation email from JustGiving to [email protected]. We will then email you back confirmation of your tickets
In June, Colin swan the entire length of Coniston Water (5.25 miles) for the New Hope Support Group.
He was joined by fellow swimmer, Jo Smith, for the epic feat which has raised more than £1,828.
