The headteacher of Sandbach School has praised students receiving their GCSE results today for their "incredible resilience" in a challenging period.

And headteacher, Sarah Burns, has wished students of the Crewe Road school the very best in whatever path they take – whether they choose to enrol for the sixth-form or go elsewhere.

The school has not released any exam results but its headteacher released a statement and the school has also congratulated students on their twitter page.

Mrs Burns said: "Every single member of our school community is incredibly proud of the efforts shown by our Year 11 cohort in the face of both the normal challenges of GCSE and Level 2 study as well as the additional challenges they have faced over the past year.

"We would also like to thank parents and extended families for their support of the

students and the school.

"Many of the current Year 11 are now enrolling in the school's successful sixth-form and over the next few days staff will be available to welcome them along with students joining us from other schools.

"Whatever their chosen pathway we wish the class of 2021 all the very best for the future and hope to hear of many future successes."

The school said on its twitter feed: "We are incredibly proud of the hard work and resilience shown by our Year 11 cohort who receive their GCSE and Level results today.

"We look forward to seeing those of you who have chosen Sandbach Sixth-Form in September and wish everyone else good luck for the future."
