"Students have excelled in their GCSE results" - Sandbach headteacher

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College headteacher, Ellen Walton, has praised students for "excelling" in their GCSEs and being much more resilient than they would ever realise.

Parents, staff and students had a buoyant morning in school celebrating GCSE and vocational results.

The school community enjoyed sharing in each other's successes while enrolling in Sandbach College for which there was a long queue.

Mrs Walton said students had achieved "excellent grades" as a result of their resilience, tenacity and dedication to their studies in spite of COVID disruption and she was incredibly proud of all the students.

Amongst many outstanding success stories were Lily Barratt

achieved 8x grade 9s and 1x grade 8, is studying

Biology, Chemistry and English to study medicine at

university and Aoife Darbyshire who achieved 9x 9s, is going to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Music.

Charlotte Wilton achieved 6 x grade 9s, 2 x grade 8

and 1 x distinction and has enrolled at Sandbach College to study Politics, RE and History, with plans to study Politics at

university.

Orla Dowey achieved 3x grade 8s and 7x grade 9s, in

September will be studying Creative iMedia, History and

Films Studies as well as an Extended Project Qualification

Anna Cope achieved 6 x grade 9s and 3x grade 8s and will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Geography and is planning on studying medicine at university.

Richard Troth, Head of Sixth Form College said: "I have been really impressed by the way the students have supported each other.They have done extremely well and fully deserve their success.

"I am looking forwarding to working with them in the next stage of their studies."

Darren Halstead, Achievement Co-ordinator Year 11, said the students' results were "outstanding". "We're incredibly proud of all our students," he said.
