LINK, the UK's Cash Access and ATM network, has announced that Sandbach will be the latest town in Cheshire to benefit from a new banking hub.

The town has been recommended a hub, a shared banking space, similar to a traditional bank branch, but available to everyone, following a community request.

When opened, the hub will consist of a counter service where customers of any bank can withdraw and deposit cash and make bill payments.

In addition, there will be private spaces where customers can speak to community bankers from their own bank for more complicated matters that require specialist knowledge or privacy.

The banks will be working on a rotating basis, so there will be staff from different banks available on different days.

Sandbach is the fourth banking hub to be recommended in Cheshire, with hubs in Alsager and Knutsford already open and a hub in Wilmslow set to open later this year.

Lloyds Bank in Sandbach closed in December 2022 and NatWest followed suit in February 2023 as we revealed here .

The banking hub will now be delivered by Cash Access UK and over the next few weeks, it will start to engage with the local community and look for potential sites. There are currently over 220 hubs open across the UK.

Dr Chris Ashton, Chief Commercial Officer, LINK: "While more people are choosing to bank and pay for things digitally, we know that many people still rely on cash and face-to-face banking, that's why we're delighted to recommend a new hub in Sandbach.

There are over 220 hubs open across the country and when it opens, the Sandbach banking hub will be a huge boost for the local community and high street."

Sarah Russell, MP for the Congleton constituency which covers Sandbach said: "We all want to see vibrant high streets, and face to face banking services play a part in that. I'm really pleased this is coming to Sandbach.

There is also access from several banks, Monday to Thursday in Alsager at Alsager Civic. Details of times and providers are available at: https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/hubs/alsager-cheshire/"
