A Sandbach man, his family and colleagues have brought new hope to families in Kenya following a recent visit.

Dad-of-two Colin Dalton from Wheelock is the lead fundraiser of the North West based New Hope Support Group, a group of like-minded individuals who have dedicated time and effort to supporting a community based in Upland, Kenya.

And recently he and his family and supporters visited Kenya to see the progress of projects and hand over items.

The group recently did a coast-to-walk as we revealed here ,  the result of which were bowls, cups, blankets and flasks which were presented to the children.

They also toured a new water treatment facility that serves New Hope as well as visiting  Gathaiti Primary School to see how two classrooms and toilet block have fared since they were opened in 2019.

During the trip, Colin and the rest of the group handed out 200kg of clothes donations from Manchester City, MMU, Sandbach Striders, friends and various schools.

The visit also included a trip to the mother and baby unit for the project has provided baby formula and food and an announcement that the project is able to provide the funds to reconnect the water supply for the next two months.

They also celebrated the 21st birthday of one of the first babies at New Hope, a child called Esther and had visits from New Hope university students.

Now Colin and his colleagues are busy organising an 80s fundraising music night for the project.

Sandbach Nub News told here  how the 80s night, held at Sandbach School, is an annual event.

This year the 80s disco takes place on Saturday, October 7th and a Facebook page has been launched for the event here

"The whole focus this year is on providing the funds to connect water to two villages for a whole year," said Colin.

"The villages have recently had the water disconnected on a number of occasions recently as they prioritised food over clean water.

"The villages are home to over 60 families and by raising £1500 we can cover the costs for a year, reducing illness and ensuring that water is available.

Tickets for the 80s evening cost £12.50, can be bought here
