Nursery children have a blast with fire engine visit from Sandbach fire station
By The Editor 30th Jun 2026
Children at Partou Kids Corner Day Nursery and Pre-school in Sandbach have welcomed local firefighters to learn about the importance of fire safety and watch a demonstration of some of the equipment they use.
"Our focus and plan for 2026 has been to bring as many real-life experiences into the nursery as we can," Tyler Burgess, Partou Kids Corner nursery manager, explained. "It is vital to teach the children the hazards around fire from an early age.
"The fire fighters spoke to the children about fire safety and how to put a fire out. All of the children had a look at the fire engine and even had a turn on the hose.
"They were shown the different types of protective clothing worn by the firefighters and discussed the numbers we dial should fire break out."
Tyler said the visit helped to the nursery in Congleton Road was to enhance the children's understanding of the world and bridge the gap between their immediate environment and the wider community.
"The fire station is only down the road and is a part of Sandbach's community, it was nice to see some professionals link to us directly," she continued.
"Supporting each child's understanding of the people that help us is a life skill and we will continue to support this.
"Talking about it and reading about it is amazing, but having the real deal showing us is fantastic."
Tyler added: "All of the children absolutely loved the visit and have not stopped speaking about it since."
Located in a large, converted Victorian building, Partou Kids Corner offers spacious and airy playrooms filled with natural light and fun resources.
Kirsty Jackson, Partou Co-Managing Director, said: "We are grateful to the team at Sandbach Fire Station for taking the time to visit the nursery.
"Being taught about the dangers of fire and what to do in the event of an emergency are important lessons from an early age."
She added: "To hear the key fire safety messages directly from local professionals will reinforce their impact on the young minds at Partou Kids Corner."
