Sandbach is set to party in style with an impressive line-up of events announced to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

Sandbach Town Council is organising a series of celebrations to help residents mark the big occasion next month (May).

They include two events at Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road, a treasure hunt and a service of Thanksgiving on the Cobbles.

A Sandbach Town Council spokesperson said: "Whilst not all the details are finalised, the main events are taking shape and we can now publish the overall programme, the venues and how to obtain tickets."

From Monday (April 17th), the town centre will be decorated with bunting and every primary school in the area has been given flags for each child to decorate.

The flags will be displayed across the Cobbles in Sandbach town centre for the coronation weekend.

Celebrations kick-off on Thursday May 4th with a treasure hunt. Youngsters will be asked to find 40 pictures of kings, queens, princes and princesses in local shops, pubs, eateries and Sandbach Market Hall.

Prizes will be awarded to those who find and identify the most pictures.

On Saturday May 6th Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road is the location for a big event, exclusively revealed here https://sandbach.nub.news/news/local-news/world-famous-fodens-band-are-to-headline-a-massive-party-for-the-172792, which kicks off at 3pm.

The event goes on until 10 pm and includes the world-famous Foden's Band from Sandbach along with the Wirral Pipe and Drum Band and the Audley Male Voice Choir.

The finale for the concert will be a 'Last Night of the Proms' event with Sandbach Britannia performing Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem.

On Sunday May 7th, there's a tea party/coronation concert at Sandbach Rugby club, time to be confirmed, with live streaming of the Coronation Concert.

A Sandbach Town Council spokesperson said: "Wrist band holders will be able to bring their own picnic.

"Symphony Catering are offering an afternoon tea for two people for £15.00, available by pre-order directly with the caterer.

"Other food and drink will be available to purchase on the day at the rugby club.

"Entry to the two events for Sandbach residents is strictly via wristbands only. These can be obtained (max 10 per group) from Sandbach Town Hall or Sandbach Rugby Club but once they have gone, they're gone!

The Council has also awarded a number of small grants to help local groups and organisations to host their own events – details of these activities will be published by the organisers in due course.

On Sunday (May 7th) at 11am there will be a special Service of Thanksgiving held on the Cobbles.

The town council spokesperson added: "We understand that some residents would have preferred an event in the town centre and, of course, the council explored this as well as many other venues and sites.

"Unfortunately, these options proved expensive, unavailable or very limited on numbers for a major free event to be enjoyed by as many residents as possible.

"The Rugby Club has provided the pitch venue to the council free of charge and we are able to have up to 1,500 attendees, with ample accessible car parking, facilities for performers, a bar and catering.

"We hope many residents will obtain entry wristbands for these special events and support Sandbach Town Council in celebrating the Coronation of Charles III within our Community."

Further details are available on the council's website, https://sandbach.gov.uk/, their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Sandbach-Town-Council-383790335094395 and the town notice board.
