A Sandbach student has raised money in memory of his late girlfriend who sadly died before she could go to university and train to do her dream job.
Brave 19-year-old Cam Newton from Ettiley Heath has raised a massive £4,500 for the NSPCC after doing a 50 km Ultra Challenge in the Lake District.
The plucky former Sandbach School pupil, studying geography and economics at university in America, ran a 50 km course in the Lake District.
Now he is busy preparing to go back to America next month to continue his studies at Northern Kentucky University.
But before he goes, he has thanked everyone who sponsored him and his cousin, Tom Beaumont, to do the challenge.
Cam said: "I am very shocked and proud that we raised so much money. I am a bit taken a back.
"We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed to make this a huge success. It's one of the hardest things I have ever done," said Cam who trained rigorously on local roads around the town to prepare.
"It wasn't easy terrain but the weather was kind and we had a great time but I was relieved to finish."
Cam's girlfriend, Frankie Bugliarello, was due to take up a place at the University of Nottingham to do social care and had her heart set on becoming a social worker with children.
Cam said: "It's the closest thing we could do to honour her memory and raise money to help children who she planned to work with."
Frankie's parents, Becky and John Bugliarello say they are incredibly proud of Cam's efforts.
"His fundraiser was a fantastic effort, remembering Frankie whilst raising funds for a charity close to her heart," they said.
