Mystery surrounds the future of Sandbach's TGJones which replaced the former WHSmith in High Street as part of a £76 million deal last August.

Modella Capital, the firm which owns Hobbycraft, bought the business last year and announced recently that it's closing a total of 22 shops across the UK in October as part of plans to prevent the retail chain from falling into administration.

Although Sandbach isn't on the current list and staff today (Monday) told Nub News it's staying open, the building TGJones in Sandbach is housed in is up for let.

A spokesperson said: "We were told recently that Congleton is closing but we're staying open. It's good news for us and the five members of staff we have here but it's really sad news for the Congleton branch.

"We don't know any more than that but how safe is the high street?"

Meanwhile 12 High Street in Sandbach is up for let through Emanuel Oliver here with an annual rent of £50,000 per annum.

The property listing states: "The property is located within the town centre in close proximity to the local car parks. Nearby occupiers include Iceland, William Hill, Boots, Hays Travel, Costa and a wide variety of independent retailers, restaurants and pubs.

"The property is available by way of a new full repairing and insuring lease at a rent of £50,000 per annum exclusive business rates."
