Staff heap praise on students for their hard work as A-Level results are released today

Staff at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College have heaped praise on students who received their A-Level results today (Thursday).

Fifteen students at the Middlewich Road school achieved exclusively A and A* grades and seven achieved all A*s. 

And overall, 15 per cent of grades were A*, nearly 30 per cent A*or A and 60 per cent A* to B.

Richard Troth, Head of College, Deputy Headteacher said: "The success of this group of students comes as no surprise. 

"We have been very impressed by the way that they supported each other through the challenges of their time with us in the sixth form.

"They have been rewarded for their hard work and determination and we wish them every success in their futures."

Rory Abbotson, director of Sixth Form said: "We are particularly proud of our success in applied subjects where many students achieved distinction stars and double distinction stars.

"This excellent achievement means that our students will be going to a wide range of exciting destinations."

Students have chosen a range of destinations and subjects including law at Oxford University, medicine at Cambridge, 

mathematics at Durham, engineering at Loughborough, French and Arabic at Exeter and film studies at St Andrews. 

Other students are progressing to nursing and teaching degrees as well as Higher Level apprenticeships with employers as diverse as Bentley and GCHQ Cheltenham.
