Students at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College celebrate with a clutch of top grades

There were lots of smiling faces when students opened their 'A' level and applied Level 3 results at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College today (Thursday).
The school heaped praise on their Year 13 students for their "well-deserved success" in their A level and applied Level 3 results.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Our students can be very proud of what they have achieved with 26% of grades at A* to A and 52% of grades at A* to B or equivalent.
"We were delighted that seven students achieved exclusively A and A* grades or equivalent and seventeen students scored at least one A* or equivalent."
Maggie Chen, having returned to us for an additional year, has now successfully gained a place to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge University having now achieved five A* grades and one A grade, said the school.

Head student Maisie Newell achieved two A* grades in English Literature and EPQ and A grades in Politics and Geography while Freya Wagstaffe achieved A* in Politics and A grades in Law, English Language and EPQ.
Heidi Hulme achieved Distinction* grades across BTEC Health and Social Care and BTEC Business Studies.

Congratulations go to the following students who achieved A grade or higher across all their qualifications: Alice Houchin, Emma Stokes, Clare Corcoran and Sally Lawton.
"We are also particularly proud of our success right across our subjects including our applied qualifications - BTEC Health and Social Care, BTEC Business Studies and CTEC Digital Media - where 88 per cent of entries were Distinction grade or higher," said a spokesperson.

"This excellent achievement means that our students will be going on to a wide range of exciting destinations, including Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry at Newcastle University, Psychology at Durham University, History at The University of Manchester, Economics at The University of Leeds, Dance at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Chemistry at The University of Liverpool and Veterinary Medicine at Keele Veterinary School.

"In addition, we have students taking up apprenticeships in a variety of roles including Digital Marketing, Events Management and Aerospace Engineering."

The spokesperson added: "The success of our students is richly deserved and reflects their resilience, hard work and intellect. We are confident that they will excel in Higher Education and employment, and we wish them the very best of luck."
