It's Mothering Sunday weekend and it's a busy time ahead with a dog walk and bacon butties, drama show, live sport and live music.

Every Thursday we bring you our top picks of events in Sandbach happening over the coming weekend.

What a fabulous sporting and music weekend ahead - a rugby semi-final, a fun family morning, live music and children's market.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

Saturday March 26th

Death in Paradise Director's drama company, Carney Academy Cheshire Showcase (Stage 2) shares some short scene the group has worked on this half-term.

The fun starts at 10 am and takes place at Sandbach School in Crewe Road.

The Old Hall monthly dog walk is on today (Saturday). Meet at the pub at 9:30am for a bacon butty and a brew, to set off at 10am for a nice stroll around the surrounding country side. No need to book, just turn up.

At Sandbach Rugby Union Football Club's 1st XV are away but the 2nd XV play Caldy RFC at home with a 3 pm kick-off.

Meanwhile Sandbach United Football Club's first team is at home to Abbey Hulton with a 3pm kick-off.

In the evening, the talented acoustic guitar/singer Jon Stevens is at the Cheshire Cheese in Wheelock at 9pm.

Sunday, March 6th

It's Mothering Sunday and families will be busy but Sandbach Woodland and Wildlife Group are inviting volunteers to help restore the canal side public footpath at Wheelock Wharf.

Extra hot drinks and biscuits will be available for all mums attending.

Tasks involve removing sections of vegetation and levelling the path surface. Sessions take place 10 – 12 am or 1 – 3 pm.

If running is your passion, Sandbach Striders is a running club for all abilities based out of Sandbach Rugby Club on Bradwall Road.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.
