It's a busy weekend ahead with the annual fair, rugby, a concert in honour of a brass band legend and a film.

Here are our top event picks for the coming days:

Friday, September 23rd    

The traditional Wakes fair in Sandbach opens at 6 pm today until 10pm. The event takes place on Sandbach Common all weekend, finishing on Monday,

At Sandbach Town Hall, the Comedy Hotspot is back in town. Four comedy greats, with none other than Lloyd Griffith closing the show. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Saturday, September 24th    

It's the monthly dog walk from the Old Hall in Sandbach. Meet at the pub for 9:30am for a quick bacon butty and a brew, and set off at 10am for a stroll around the local area. There is no charge but any donations to Sandbach Animal Rescue are greatly appreciated.

Sandbach Rugby FC in Bradwall Road have live rugby with 2nd and 3rd XV are at 3pm taking on Chester and Manchester respectively. The 1st XV are at Macclesfield.

In the evening, Sandbach Rugby Club has a George Ezra tribute night. Tickets cost £15 which includes chicken in a basket (members £12.50).

At The Lion pub in Sandbach, Jaxon Layne is back from 8.30 pm with three sets.

Sunday, September 25th

At Sandbach School in Crewe Road, the Little Children's Market takes place from 10.30 am with bargains galore for everything children related.

If running is your thing, Sandbach Striders is a running club for all abilities based out of Sandbach Rugby Club on Bradwall Road.

They meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Sundays at 9.30 am the latter for a 'long slow run' to be confirmed.

Sandbach's Foden's Band is holding a special concert at 2 pm at Sandbach School Theatre to mark a famous brass band player and his family who helped shaped the band. Foden's Youth Band will also be performing.

This year marks the 120th year since the birth of Harry Mortimer and 30 years since he died and to commemorate this, Foden's is performing a 'Celebration concert.' Tickets are £10

At St Peter's Church in Elworth at 4 pm, there's film and food time with the showing of Paddington 2. There will be hot dogs, popcorn and drinks, opening up the youth room and the foyer will be open up to get a drink and have a chat as well.
