Work has started on the major refurbishment of a Sandbach cricket club.

Elworth Cricket Club in London Road is getting a facelift - complete with a new kitchen and redecoration of the clubhouse.

The work started yesterday (Monday) and the club house is currently closed while the facelift is done.

Elworth Cricket Club chair, Mike Price said previously: "It will provide members and the local community with an amazing new facility to enjoy for the 2023 Season and for years to come.

"The project has only been possible because of exceptionally generous donations from two members, significant donations from a small number of other members, successful grant-funding applications to a number of bodies and the support of the club membership."

The project will see a complete re-fit of the club interior, new toilets, a new kitchen, new flooring, new tables and chairs on the lounge, new lounge decoration, a new boiler and new electrics.

In addition, the clubhouse is being painted throughout.

The notice telling club goers about the refurbishment.

Mike added: "I would like to thank Dave Buckley, in particular, for all the work he has undertaken during his period as Chairman of the Club and this year."
