In-form Cheadle Town hoping to quell Sandbach response

Sandbach United look to bounce back from a midweek defeat on their away trip to 6th-placed Cheadle Town.

After a disappointing performance and result against Maine Road, Declan Swan will be hoping to see his side produce a much-improved performance at Park Road Stadium.

However, the Ramblers will be travelling up to Cheadle short of a full squad, as long-term absentee Lewis Barker remains side-lined as he recovers from a major injury at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Swan will be pleased to see the return of Harry Cain after the winger's one-match suspension, along with hopefully including new striker Josh Oultram after his move from Stafford Town.

Sandbach's recent defeat threw a proverbial spanner in the works, after the Ramblers had picked up back-to-back wins over Cheadle Heath Nomads and Stafford Town.

With two defeats in their last 7 games, Swan will be hoping his side can start putting together a run of form after some inconsistent results so far this season.

Cheadle Town are currently 6th-place in the NWCFL, level on points with Sandbach but ahead on goal difference. They are unbeaten in their last 5 games in all competitions, beating Northwich Victoria in the FA Vase whilst recording league wins over Wythenshawe Amateurs,

Abbey Hey and Ashville. Sandbach will be hoping to stop danger man Patrick Davin, who has scored 5 goals in 5 appearances this season.

The home side will also be hoping that new signings Lee Gregory and Charlie Mulgrew feature, after acquiring them during the week.

When the two sides met last season, Sandbach came away with four points over the two games. The meeting at Park Road Stadium ended in a 1-1 stalemate, before a midweek March fixture saw Sandbach deservedly run out 2-1 winners with goals from Liam Fitzpatrick and Ryan Rogers sealing the victory.

Both sides will be looking to take all three points and move into the coveted playoff positions, kick-off will be at 3:00pm on Saturday 17th September at Park Road Stadium, SK8 2AN.
